Social Sport

The social sport programme offers free* competitive weekly leagues to play socially with groups of friends, societies and departments.

How does Social Sport work?

Social Sport is perfect for those wanting to play sports with friends, meet new people and enjoy a commitment-free sports experience.

The leagues allow you to define your own level of competition, and they’re a great way to stay active while taking a break from your academic commitments.

This programme also offers the opportunity to participate in one-day events in other niche sports, which is a fantastic way to try something new.

Leagues run in Term 1 and again in Term 2, and one-day events take place all year round.

How to get involved

League sign-ups occur just after Freshers, so you have enough time to get a team together. You can sign up to a league via the Lboro Sport app. Places in the leagues are limited, so it's best to be organised.

Teams are asked to pay a small refundable deposit to enter the leagues, which is returned at the end of the term.

Societies and departments have a priority sign-up window 24 hours before general leagues are released. One day events run all year round, and sign-up windows are released a few weeks before each event.

FAQs

Where can I find the league fixtures?

You can see the fixtures and scores for your team via the Playwaze App

Once you have downloaded Playwaze and registered an account, please join the '91制片厂 Competitions' community and the relevant league, i.e., 'Social Sport Football 2024/25.'

What do the green and yellow leagues mean on the Lboro Sport app?

Some of our leagues such as Tennis and Badminton are split into two leagues, based on level and ability to ensure a fun and competitive environment for all of our participants.

I want to play but don't have a team to join with, would I still be able to play?

Of course. Email us at socialsport@mailbox.lboro.ac.uk and we will try to place you on an existing team in the league.
