Auto MSc Students Visit Motor Museum and Manufacturing Plant

Gaydon 2019 x 670

On 27th February, postgraduate automotive students from the Department of Aeronautical and Automotive Engineering, visited the in Gaydon and the in Solihull.

The students were accompanied by Dr Thomas Steffen - Senior Lecturer in Control Engineering and Programme Director for the MSc Automotive Systems Engineering.

Thomas stated:

"The unseasonably warm weather made this a great day out in the Midlands. The technical highlight was the body in white manufacturing line for the all aluminium body of the F-PACE, which uses bonding and rivets instead of the conventional spot welding approach.

Historically more important was a Jaguar 1955 Mark VIIM driven by the Queen Mother herself, and a great selection of Jaguar E-Type vehicles in the museum."

The students seemed to enjoy their visit, as can be seen in the image above!
